In October 1995 Porto Santo Line won a public tender to operate the sea transport line between the islands of Madeira and Porto Santo.

In June 1996 the company acquired a ship in order to respond to the needs of this transport operation, one which would be able to offer safety, a regular service and comfort. It was adapted to the Madeira market by the transformation of its interior. A 1st class lounge was added as well as its lateral ramps. With its new image, it was given a new name, "Lobo Marinho".

The ship´s  maiden voyage was maide on this sea route on 8 June 1996.

The ship transported both passengers and cargo, achieving a high level of comfort thanks to its stabilizers.

The partnership between Porto Santo Line and Torre Praia and Praia Dourada hotels and Luamar Aparthotel in Porto Santo has allowed the company to promote several travel packages which were created to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

With the arrival of the new Lobo Marinho ship in June 2003, the connection between Madeira and Porto Santo has become more comfortable and much more desirable.
